Call for Singers, Buffalo Choral Arts Society
Tue. Jan 5 to Sun. Dec 5
The Buffalo Choral Arts Society (BCAS), under
the direction of Marcia A. Giambrone, will hold
mid-year auditions for its 2009-2010 season:
Tuesday, January 5, 2010
beginning at 6PM
at Sweet Home High School,
Sweet Home Road, Amherst, New York.
Appointments are required and may be
scheduled by calling Nancy Cannizzaro at 847-
6930 (w) or 856-1357 (h). All singers who are
impassioned with the choral art are encouraged
to audition. The group is seeking singers for all
voice parts. Prospective auditioners are asked
to prepare a solo from any published source
which best exemplifies the singer’s range, tone
and interpretive qualities. Pitch-matching,
range exercises and sight reading will make up
the remainder of the audition.
BCAS was founded in 1966 by Robert F. Schulz,
and since then has steadily established itself as
one of Western New York’s premier choruses
and an integral part of Buffalo’s music-loving
community.

Comedy

Buffalo ComedySportz
Fri. Jul 9 to Sat. Dec 29
ComedySportz is improvisational comedy played as a sport! (If you've ever seen Whose Line Is It Anyway?, you've got the general idea.) Two teams of actors compete for the biggest laughs while a referee calls the fouls and gets suggestions from you, the audience.

Everything we do is improvised. We don't have scripts or pre-planned scenes. That's why a ComedySportz match wouldn't be possible without your suggestions. Just make sure your suggestions are clean, or the referee could call the "Brown Bag Foul" on you, and you'll end up wearing a paper bag over your head.

The Cobblestone Criterium Twilight Series offers high-speed bike races in a spectator-friendly downtown setting.
Thu. May 6 to Thu. Aug 26
The Buffalo Bicycling Club is proud to announce
the Cobblestone Criterium Twilight Series 2010.
The races will feature the premier racing
cyclists in WNY, and will run on Thursday
evenings throughout the summer starting on
May 6. The events are FREE for spectators, and
the organizers promise speed and excitement.

The course starts and finishes on Perry Street in
front of the Elk Terminal and covers 0.5 miles
over paved roads. The tight turns create a
technically difficult course that racers love, and
the sidewalks and open spaces along the route
are ideal for spectators. Unlike long-distance
races, spectators will get to see riders zoom by
dozens of times during each race.

There will also be kids races, which is a unique
event for children 12 & under to ride the same
course as the racers. Participation in the kids
races is FREE. Helmets with chin straps are
required, and a guardian must be present to
sign a release.

Bring a lawn chair or towel and please join us
for a night of racing!
